Story of Professor JohnBull Season 5 – Episode 4 (Get Rich Quick):
The Glo-sponsored Professor Johnbull admonishes youth on the Get Rich Quick syndrome. Viewers of the didactic TV drama series, Professor Johnbull, sponsored by leading telecommunications company, Globacom, are billed for another interesting and instructive edition as a new episode of the series comes on air on Tuesday at 8.30. p.m. on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes.

As is characteristic of the show, which is in its fifth season, the new episode again draws the attention of society to another social malady which is at the base of so much indiscipline in the society; the tendency, especially by the youth, to make money by all means.

Entitled Get Rich Quick, the episode dramatises the various ways youths compromise societal discipline and values by throwing decency and decorum to the winds in their quest to acquire wealth. For instance, it points out that most emergency road repairers are actually the ones who dig up the holes on the roads and pretend to be filling them up in order to deceive commuters to give them money.

The lead character in the Series, Professor Johnbull, played by the Nollywood legend, Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK), in summing up the negative effects of the syndrome, posits that how rich an individual is does not translate to how happy such a fellow will be, as riches and happiness are relative and independent of each other.

While encouraging youths to pay more attention to whatever they are doing with a view to discovering the potentials in every vocation, KOK submits that “every business has the chance to grow”. He draws inferences from his gateman, Abadnego (Martins Nebo), who, in addition to his security job, adds petty trading in telecommunications recharge cards and also goes into selling other commodities to increase his income.

Get Rich Quick is woven round the philanderer, Flash (Stephen Odimgbe), who in conjunction with Samson (Ogus Baba) and the perpetual student, Ilodibe Makachukwu, goes into gambling in order to make extra money. They lure Jeroboam (Osita Iheme), a.k.a Boam, the new member of Professor Johnbull’s household, into staking the money meant for the academic’s nkwobi in gambling and losing the entire amount in the process.

Samson, who prides himself as the Original, goes into bankruptcy after his failed gambling voyage and has to resort to working in the Nkwobi joint owned by Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso). Olaniyi also bails out Boam when his new found love, Nje (Angela Okorie), intervenes by caressing the restaurateur.

An interesting part of the episode is the intelligent response of Mai Doya (Funky Mallam) to Jumoke’s condemnation of Abadnego’s clownish costume and dancing steps to sell some herbal products to the public. Mai Doya describes Abadnego as innovative, and enjoins Jumoke to think outside the box. The repeat broadcast of Get Rich Quick will be aired on the mentioned channels at 8.30 p.m on Friday.

Don’t miss the next episode of #‎ProfessorJohnBull‬ on Tuesdays and Fridays on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes from 8:30pm to 9:00pm.
