Shakhtar Donetsk 2 – 1 Manchester City | UEFA Champions League – Match Highlights
- 26′ 1 – 0 Bernard touch makes it count! What a strike!! Marlos jinks past several sky blue shirts in midfield and, instead of shooting from the edge of the box, lays it off to Bernard. The little Brazilian’s first touch looked to have killed the attack’s momentum, but he cuts back in onto his favoured right foot and curls and beautiful strike right into the top corner, giving Ederson no chance! Fantastic goal, and it’s 1-0 Shakhtar! Marlos initally looked to have made the wrong decision when he chose to lay the ball offrather than shooting, but his team-mate came up with a peach of a strike to put the hosts one goal up!
32′ 2 – 0 Ismaily strikes! Shakhtar look in danger of running away with it in these early stages! They squandered a couple of good opportunities to double their advantage, but they make no mistake this time! Marlos plays a wonderful ball over the top to release Ismaily in behind in the channel. Ederson rushes out of his box, but gets nothing, and the left-back can roll the ball into an empty net! It’s 2-0 to Shakhtar! Marlos deserves a lot of credit for the goal – his pass was placed perfectly into the area behind the full-back and just out of the goalkeeper’s reach, causing havoc and giving Ismaily the simple task of taking a touch and rolling the ball home.
90+2′ 2 – 1 [Penalty] Sergio Agüero City grabbed a consolation from 12 yards in stoppage-time as Aguero smashed in a penalty. City who improved after the break as Sergio Aguero netted an injury-time penalty after Jesus was tripped but Shakhtar closed out their third home win of the group stage, denying Guardiola’s men the chance to qualify with a perfect record from Group F.
