Blessing Okagbare Sets New Record as She Wins the 7th National Title at the All-Nigeria Championship

Blessing Okagbare on Thursday 7th July Won and claimed her seventh National Title as she won the Women’s 100m event in 11.02secs at the ongoing All-Nigeria Championships in Sapele, Delta State thereby Setting a New Record for the Women’s 100m event National Title for the All-Nigeria Championships.

This year’s All-Nigeria Championships which will serve as the Olympic trials to select the athletes to represent Nigeria in Rio is expected to be keenly-contested as athletes across the world have paid their way through to get a chance to fight for places in the compact squad being planned by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare, who was conspicuously missing during the 2015 All-Nigeria Championships in Warri, left no one in doubt that she was back to wrestle away her title from last year’s winner, Gloria Asumnu, when she effortlessly won her semi-final race with a time of 11.22secs.

Before yesterday’s feat, Blessing Okagbare’s Championship record was 11.06 which she set while she won the 2010 edition of the All-Nigeria Championship in Calabar.

Peace Ukoh came second while Gloria Asumnu finished third.
