President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Ibrahim Kpotum Idris as the new Inspector General of Police.
Idris takes over from former IG, Solomon Arase, who exited the police force today, June 21, 2016, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Both Idris and Arase are said to currently be in a meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
The new IG is an Assistant Inspector General of Police who once led the Kano State Police Command.
The Presidency is however yet to issue an official statement on Idris’ appointment.
