Common sense advocate, Senator Ben Murray Bruce and the honourable Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi were on Sunday locked in a twitter battle on the #IAmANigerianNotACriminal created by the former. Senator Ben Murray Bruce, representing Bayelsa East, on Sunday, condemned statements credited to President Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians have reputation for crime.
Buhari, during an interview with UK newspaper, The Telegraph noted that too many Nigerians are in jail abroad because of their reputation for crime which has made them unwelcome.
“Some Nigerians claim is that life is too difficult back home, but they have also made it difficult for Europeans and Americans to accept them because of the number of Nigerians in prisons all over the world accused of drug trafficking or human trafficking, I don’t think Nigerians have anybody to blame. They can remain at home, where their services are required to rebuild the country,” he told The Telegraph.
However, the commonsense advocate started hashtag #IAmANigerianNotACriminal to counter the view of the president.
Taking a dig at President Buhari, Ben Murray-Bruce said “Your own minister spent N80 million on a one day dinner, yet it is your citizens you accuse of being criminals.
Murray-Bruce was apparently referring to Amaechi in the tweet as he (Amaechi) was accused of spending the said amount to host a birthday dinner for Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka during his tenure as governor of the Rivers state.

But Amaechi who is not active on twitter when compare to Murray-Bruce, replied: “I will not respond to innuendos. Be courageous, name the minister. We know you talk here & do ‘siddon’ look where you are elected to talk

He went further to call Murray-Bruce a coward who is unfit to be a senator of the federal republic.
A coward who is not bold enough to name the minister that he alleged criminally spent N80M on dinner is unfit to sit in our senate chambers
