An iPhone can survive being dunked in water for an hour, according to YouTube video posted by reviewer Zach Straley.
Both the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S+ stayed running throughout the test and everything from 3D Touch to the phone cameras continue to work after the hour spent underwater.
Based on patents filed by Apple in the past, it looks like the company wants to use a thin, hydrophobic coating across all of the electronic components in its devices, it is unclear whether this is done with the current models.
This capability was not mentioned by Apple when they announced the phone, as such it’s not an official waterproof specification.
